Details

The Pit covers roughly three acres and was created in 1980, and for the last fifteen years has been a fishing lake. It is widely respected to be a quiet, tranquil and above all a friendly fishery, with its own on-site bait shop opening on the 6th April 2009. We have recently added 3 luxury lodges to our fishery, and two of them have hot tubs! They can be booked for 3 night mini breaks, 4 night mid meek breaks or for a 7 night stay. They are situated just moments from the bank of our very popular Pit Lake. They have a large veranda, with far reaching beautiful views of the expansive Fenland countryside, with some of the best sunsets you can find

The Pit is host to many varieties of fish including Carp, Crucian, Tench, Perch and Roach. The largest carp to be caught in The Pit so far is 27lbs, and one of our regulars recently took a 10lb Tench. There are twenty-four swims around the outside of the pit, and in the summer months and bank holidays it is advisable to arrive early as it does get busy.

On the site is the Hut - where you fill in your tickets (see "How to Pay" at the bottom of this page) and also a unisex toilet and sink with hot and cold running water. Having toilet and washing facilities improves the comfort of all users, but especially for our female visitors - whom we are keen to encourage.

The car park has plenty of space for everyone, and the lakes are in easy walking distance. Registered Disabled users with a valid blue badge may drive right up to the lake other vehicles must remain in the car park which is very close to the lake.

The Pool has been custom designed and created for Match fishing. The Pool opened for its first match in September 2004. It has been stocked with thousands of Carp, Chubb, Orf, Barbel and Tench - ranging from half a pound to six pounds, but they are all growing very quickly. We run our own Open Matches, Senior Citizens matches, pub team series and a Thursday evening Jackpot Series. The other dates are free to be booked by angling clubs, other teams and private matches. Already The Pool is proving to be a successful venue.

The pool is guaranteed to be open for pleasure fishing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It will also be open on Thursdays, except between mid-May to mid-July, and on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, between April and September. The Pool is open every evening (after 5pm), and from 2008 it will also be open weekends unless a match of 18 pegs or more has been booked. You can either contact us before-hand, or there is a sign at the entry gate that will inform you whether "The Pool" is OPEN or CLOSED for pleasure fishing.

The Pool has 28 swims, a large car park right next to it and unisex toilets, a sink and running hot & cold water.
