Hogweed

Top class lake for all Carp

pup

This fishery is one of the best around, bottom lake holds carp ( into double figures) tench and roach.gets very busy during the summer, seen cars waiting for gates to be opened. Toilets in carpark. Top lake( my fav) is a lot harder than the bottom lake but you get out what you put in,decent sized fish in a shallow(ish) lake. Bottom lake has depths ranging from 5ft at far end to 18ft near car park, toplake averages 7-9ft. Both lakes worth a go but if you want a really good day then bottom lake in summer and no one can fail to catch, top lake like i said is a bit harder, and a long walk up hill. Sweetcorn, pellet, meat, boilies all work well, floating crust in surface is another good technique. Dont use maggots, very small fish with the very occasional bigger one.

Tips

pup

Sweetcorn/8mm cubes of luncheon meat, fished tight to margin account for some good fish in warmer months. Feeder/bomb tight to island also works. Floating crust takes most of the fish caught here. Scale down bait and hook sizes in winter and look for slightly deeper water.
