Description

The lake was originally a trout fishery. We opened as a course fishery in 1994, the lake has a ballast and chalk bottom. The lake averages about 12 feet deep but it is 35 feet deep in places. It has a island in the middle and is fed by three natural springs.

Details

The lake has over hanging weeping willow trees around the edges, the fish spawn on the roots of the trees in the spring, we get lots of fry each year.

At the far end of the fishery we have a fishing lodge were we sell a few bits of bait and tackle. Next to the lodge we have the ladies and gents toilets.

We have a large secure car park with CCTV in operation. Also in the car park we have a snack bar which is open from 7am - 2 pm Monday to Saturday (closed Sundays) where you can buy hot and cold food and drinks.

The fishery is only a few minutes walk from the train station and bus stops.

Rang the venue the day before I got told the gate opens at 7 fishing starts at 8 i was advised by the bailiff to get there early as there is a queue and it's a first come first come first served basis so decided to get there just before 7 to avoid disappointment. Bailiff didn't turn up until 7.45am at that he was rude and about as much use as a Chocolate tea pot. Spoke to a few locals they said an incident happened a few weeks earlier where he had chased off an angler with his 2 dogs i think that somes him up. It's 10 pounds 2 rods plenty of roach Rudd and skimmers in there not very big but there in, as for the mystery carp and barbel well that remains to be seen. I got there early to avoid disappointment which I hadn't bothered. Tight lines

We had a great days fishing despite the awful weather (28/4/2012) carp, tench, barbel, bream and roach came out all around the lake!!! Great bacon & egg roll too. Bonus. Keep to the rules and you'll love this place. £10 2 rods all day.

Bloke who runs it is an arrogant idiot. Would not even let us look round so can't comment on the fishing Avoid
