Sunrise Lakes has been open since August 2005 and is an idyllic setting well off the beaten track. All sensible and environmentally friendly anglers are most welcome which includes ladies, juniors and the disabled.

South Lake
The South and original lake built on site back in 2003 has been developed primarily as a pleasure anglers water. The lake is 2 ½ acres in size with one small island and depths varying from 3 feet to 8 feet. Having a good average depth allows it to fish well throughout the year. The south far bank is protected by a wood along its entire length and can offer shelter from strong southerly winds. The bankside vegitation offers excellent cover for margin fishing especially in the warmer weather and evening times with all varieties of plants and reeds attracting the fish.

North Lake
The North Lake also dug around the time of the Bottom Lake offers good bankside cover for the fish and depths again from 3 to 8 feet. It is a smaller more homely kind of lake from the South one but lacks nothing. Around 1 ½ acres in size in a kidney shape with a canalised section at the back of a large island that you can fish from.

Both Lakes have been stocked with approximately 15,000 fish each and offer a broad diversity of species and sizes. Tench, both green and golden to 5lb, Bream from skimmers to fish up to 6lbs, Barbel up to 3 ½ lb, Crucian Carp to 2lb. The larger Carp are up to around the 17lb mark, however, the majority vary between 1lb and 12lb of varieties Mirrors, Commons and Ghost. Roach and Golden Rudd to 1lb, Perch to 2 ½ lb, Chub and Ide to 2 ½ lb.All methods can be fished from pole to waggler or feeder. On warm calm days floating baits can catch the bigger Carp. Dog biscuits and bread being the choice of many. Hair rigged hard pellets also work well on the tip but dont leave your rod unattended as even the smaller Carp or Barbel will easily drag it in!

Match Lake
Recently at Sunrise we have added a 60 peg lake that can be booked for matches and 'knock ups' comprising of 6 anglers or more.

The lake has been stocked to the tune of 20,000 fish up to 4lbs. Stocking comprises of Mirror Carp, F1s, Crucian Carp, Bream, Chub, Ide, Barbel, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Tench. The lake has been designed to require all methods from pole to tip to waggler. Widths and depths vary around the five islands and pole rigs need to range from 3 to 9 feet deep. Wherever you may fish, plumb the depth very carefully as one peg may be shallow and the next twice as deep! Pellets score well all year round especially expanders, with paste working well in the warmer months and maggot working well over the winter time. Whilst the islands always draw the angler to fish tight, most of our winners tend to catch much closer where speed can play a part. Steady feeding being the maxim and good concentration for those finicky F1s and Crucians.

Toilet facilities / shop / bait tackle / beverages / confectionary / breakfast available on match days up to 10 am

Good venue but the track to the lakes is a nightmare

If you want top quality fish and fishing in the most beautiful tranquil settings this is the place to be in Yorkshire. Red kites and buzzards live on the site and are seen every day. Deer and hares the size of small dogs can often be seen also. Whilst the track is long careful driving causes no problems but as a bonus keeps the idiots at bay !! The onsite shop sells the best bait for the venue as well as those niggling essentials often forgotten. On match days cooked food is available up to around 10am. But the shop offers drinks and confectionary all day.

Great venue VERY well stocked with mixed coarse species the track was fine at this time of year but at winter I imagine it could be peril when icy

Great Lake with a good head if fish and very well maintained!! Wish I could fish it more often

Feed micros with expanders over the top and on the hook. Works all year round on all the lakes. For best results it's all about accurate regular feeding.

Don't forget the margins

i would agree with uncle john.i fish the middle lake often, get a bed of micros down to start leave for 10 mins for bream to get onto them.then fish a 6mm expander over the top.i never fail to get a very good bag of slabs.after every fish top swim up with toss pot of micros.
