Description

Lakemore fisheries offers an angling experience ideal for beginners and specimen hunters alike. With five lakes on site we offer a varied range of angling from specimen carp and catfish to general pleasure angling.

Details

Easily accessable from M6 Junction 17 yet set within idyllic and secure surroundings, Lakemore is without doubt one of the most beautiful waters you will fish at.

Lakemore Fisheries was excavated between 1981-83, the lakes were then stocked with carp, roach and rudd. Over the following years chub, bream and tench were also added, then 20 years ago 115 catfish were aquired all approximately 4 inches long. 105 of these cats were stocked into the horseshoe and 10 stocked into the willow pool. Five years later, 25 cats were moved into the long lake. The rest is history.

The horseshoe now boasts hundreds of lake bred catfish with many of the orginals now over 46lb. This is a similar story in the long lake, with all 25 cats stocked now all pushing 20 - 45lb and growing. The carp in horseshoe are genrally in mint condition, and many landed have never been caught before. The carp are now up to 32lb 10oz and in the long lake they are to about 27lb with several fish now pushing the 20lb barrier every year. The other three lakes being the willow pool, the golden lake and the moat, contain a wide range of general course fish with carp to 20lb, perch to 3.5lb, bream to 6lb, roach to 2lb, rudd to 2lb, chub to 5lb, golden tench to 2lb, crucian carp to 2lb and ghost-koi carp are present in the horseshoe to 24lb.

Have fished here about 5/6 times now and had some decent results, iv had 2 carp to 13lb and a 3 cats biggest was 22lb :-)! Had 1 night wen I had the 22 cat along with a 9lber (cat) about 10 cats around the 1lb mark and a 12lb mirror up all night :-)!But it can be very hard fishing as I blanked completely the nxt weekend using same methods :-(, two of my fishing buddies have had 40+ cats out and 1 of them has also had 4 30s all out of horseshoe ( the weedy one) all my catches were from longlake! Slightly expensive at £25 for 24hrs on long lake £30 on horseshoe All in all good fishing though in my opinion!

Went for a 24hr session on long lake and had a new PB 31lb cat :-) what a fight took half an hour to get in! I also did 2 more 24hr sessions earlier in the year and had fish/cats each time 3 in total upto 12lb excellent place to go I'm more than happy to pay my £25 for 24hrs :-).

Awesome fishery, fished horseshoe and blanked but will be back for another go. Pretty weedy at the time. Lovely looking lake and the cats are massive.

Handy having Stapely tackle shop but quite expensive

Tips

jimrow123

Obvious one but the halibut pellets work really well for the cats.

jimrow123

Running lead set up works a lot better than lead clips.
