By the time I got there the sun was up and as I unlocked the gates and drove in the place was as peaceful as you could get it. I had a quick look around and saw that the far end was pretty shallow and the near was fairly deep, so I opted for half way down. As I was tackling up I saw that fish were bubbling everywhere and knew they were feeding. I plumbed up and set the depth at about 4ft at 6 sections out, laying an inch or two on the bottom. I fed in small sinker pellets and fished sweetcorn using a bait stop so that the bait dangled under the hook rather than being pierced by it. First cast brought a 4lb Mirror, quickly followed by another. I got bites all day and had a good mixed bag of mirrors, commons and bream. I quite like bream fishing and think I'll go back at some point to target them specifically. It costs just £6 for the day at Evesbatch. You can buy your ticket from the Leigh Sinton Post Office just down the A4103. Getting there Driving from Leigh Sinton to Storridge on the A4103 turn right at the sign saying 'Evesbatch 1' just before Fromes Hill. Carry on up the track till you reach a house called 'The Brook House'. Turn next left and you'll see the gates on the right. Evesbatch Fishery |
